We proudly announce the successful completion of another significant volunteering project in collaboration with the Mother and Children Art Foundation. Over three days, our dedicated team of volunteers lived within the school community of Nabingram in Kathmandu, immersing themselves in local life and gaining a profound experience of Nepali culture.
Upon their arrival, the team from Kearsney College, UK, was warmly welcomed by the community with a traditional ceremony. As a gesture of respect and goodwill, each volunteer was honored with a white scarf (Khada) and a red Tika on their forehead — a heartfelt symbol of blessing and hospitality in Nepali tradition.

One of the teachers delivered a warm and inspiring welcome speech, setting a positive tone for the team’s visit. Following the ceremony, the group was given a guided tour of the project area to familiarize themselves with the surroundings and better understand the needs of the community.
During a productive discussion with the chairperson, the team identified and agreed upon several key tasks. These included digging drainage channels, excavating foundations for retaining walls, creating colorful murals, and paving designated areas with concrete blocks. The conversation was thorough and well-organized, ensuring that each task was clearly understood and responsibilities were appropriately allocated.

On the first day of work, the team showed great enthusiasm and organization as they prepared to begin their tasks. Their first step was to visit a nearby handicraft shop to gather the necessary materials for the project. The shopping list included concrete blocks, stationery supplies, sports equipment, and stone dust — all essential for the successful completion of their assigned duties.

The careful selection of materials played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the project. Concrete blocks and stone dust were intended for construction tasks, such as building the drainage system and retaining walls. Meanwhile, the stationery supplies and sports equipment were designated to enhance the educational and recreational activities within the community, further contributing to the overall development efforts.

During their stay, the team actively engaged with the local community by participating in a traditional cookery class. This hands-on experience offered them the opportunity to learn authentic Nepali culinary techniques and foster deeper connections with the locals. Sharing meals and stories around the table created a warm and memorable cultural exchange that enriched their overall experience.

In addition to participating in the cookery class, the team made meaningful contributions by teaching classes to local students. This exchange of knowledge and culture proved to be enriching for both the visitors and the students, fostering a deeper sense of connection, mutual respect, and understanding within the community.

As a heartfelt farewell gesture, the school community organized a closing ceremony featuring vibrant musical performances by the students. The event concluded with the offering of white scarves (Khada) and red Tika, traditional symbols of honor and blessings in Nepali culture. This touching ceremony marked a memorable and meaningful end to the team's visit, leaving lasting impressions on both the visitors and the community.
